Waveform Articles

Over the last nine years I have lost count of the number of times I have been asked what Waveform is and “why haven’t we heard about it before now, if it has been around for (x) years?”

There are a number of answers to that last question, however rather than be drawn into politics we, the team, have decided to provide a large proportion of the information that has been available over the years. Most of this information is in the form of articles written by me, members of the team, and graduates and students of Waveform.

I have included some of the history of these articles so that you can make up your own mind as to why ‘you haven’t we heard about it before now, if it has been around for (x) years”

This first group of articles represents a small number of those that are available to date, (Approximately 40) and these will be added to in the articles page over the coming weeks.

If you have questions to ask as a result of these articles we, the team, will be happy to answer them.

We hope that you find our articles interesting, enjoyable and stimulating.

u  Energetic Principles of Shiatsu
Copyright © Mike Webster October 1996

This was one of the earliest pieces of writing on Waveform. It formed part of the very first information pack for students, and is still included in the pack.

u  Waveform Energetics within the fields of Tai chi, Chi Gung and the Healing arts
Copyright © Mike Webster and Des Lawton November 1996.

Another early writing, which became part of the first information pack and is still included nine years later.

u Colour and Energetic Changes
Copyright © Mike Webster 5th December 1996.

This was the very first article, which recorded close observation of the movement of energy and its manifestation as colour and how it responded to other energetic influences such as treatment by a therapist.

This article was sent to the Shiatsu Society newsletter in 1997. It missed two editions and I was advised that it had been ‘lost’. It was replaced yet again and it didn’t go to print the next time either.
I managed a face to face with one of the editors and I was advised that it had not been published because it was ‘too technical’.
The Shiatsu Society readers will note the references to Quantum Theory, and the early realisation that ‘deep’ tsubos are rarely active enough for change to take place.

u  Energetic Homoeostasis
Copyright © Mike Webster December 1996

Another early article, which is part of the student information pack.

The last paragraph of page one, like the Colour and Energetic Change article, indicates the three dimensional properties of the energetic field. These articles, plus two diagrams, including ‘Tsubo ‘chain’ and ‘random’ firing’, demonstrates our experience of tsubos in the extended energetic field and how these respond to treatment – Treating these energetic active areas and tsubos has been part of Waveform 2 and 3 since 1996.

u Transcending Kyo and Jitsu
Copyright © Mike Webster October 1997

This article is my favourite, and includes many early insights, which have survived the test of time, experience and development.
This article was first published in 1997 in the shiatsu ‘ Scotland and the North’ Newsletter. It was also sent to the Shiatsu Society Newsletter in 2002, and again, for reasons that were not given, didn’t make the grade for publication.  I eventually withdrew the article and it was then published in Australia, and also Switzerland where it was translated into Swiss-German and published on the Internet in 2002.

Highlighted in blue in the text are some paragraphs which should be of interest to those who have read of the 'new breakthroughs’ in shiatsu and energy work, which have been published in the Shiatsu Society Newsletter over the last two years.

u Questions and Answers by Mike Webster MRSS
Copyright © Mike Webster 1997(updated 2000 and 2005)

The original interview was in 1997 with Evelyn Muir, so it is probably time for an update or a completely new interview. However apart from the odd comment we have kept this Q and A as it was, when it was first published in the ‘Scotland and the North’ Newsletter in 1997.

u Waveform - a Reiki Perspective
(Molly McCoombs Reiki Master) 1997

This was the first article on Waveform, which was written by a participant.  Molly was also our first non-shiatsu participant, a lovely person, and a brilliant Reiki Master who now resides in Australia; a great loss to British Reiki and Scotland in particular.

u Recent Developments in accessing the Human Energy Field
An Introduction to “Transcending Kyo and Jitsu”
                            Copyright © Mike Webster 1999

Written as an introduction to ‘Transcending Kyo and Jitsu’ it was included in the German translation below.

u Jüngste Entwicklungen eines Zuganges zum menschlichen Energie-Feld
                             (Transcending Kyo and Jitsu)
                         Copyright © Mike Webster 1999, translated 2000.

Translated for a Swiss audience, as a group of Swiss Waveform graduates and students was forming. The finished article was published on the Shiatsu Gesellschaft Schweiz website.

u A Gauge of Effectiveness for Therapists and Teachers
(Veronique Broger, RST) 2001

Veronique travelled from British Columbia in Canada for this  Waveform 1 workshop, and at that time had travelled further than anyone to take part in a Waveform Course.
Veronique’s realisations of the possibilities of Waveform are encapsulated in this article.

u Shiatsu, Nutrition and a Mental Strategy In the Treatment of M.E.
Mike Webster November 2000

Sent to the Shiatsu Society Newsletter where it wasn’t published, however it was commissioned, purchased and Published by Positive Health Magazine in 2001 - reproduced here with permission from Positive Health Magazine.

uExcerpt From a Letter to a Waveform Student  - March 2002 (Mike Webster)

We have included this letter to a student, as it gives another insight into the life changing qualities of Waveform.

u Waveform Energetics® Breakthrough of the decade?
Copyright © Mike Webster September 2002

This article provides an overview of Waveform for general reading and information.

u Working With Waveform
(Nicky Day) September 2002

Trained in Shiatsu in the UK, Nicky is a Waveform graduate now living in Germany. Nicky’s article is an open and honest view of what it is like to work with an energetic therapy without a real energetic connection to the energy itself. It describes the profound difference the realisation of Waveform made to her confidence in her considerable abilities, and also the clarity and effectiveness of her work.

u Waveform Energetics ®  ‘Beginnings’
Excerpts from ‘The Field of Clover’ © Michael Webster 2002
(Published in ‘Healing Points’ Magazine).

An explanation of how, and where it all started in the isles of Orkney. For those who would like to know the background to Waveform.

u Review of Waveform Course
(Jenny Hewitt) July 2003.

Jenny’s course report, which was printed, (at last) in a Shiatsu Society Newsletter struck a chord with a large number of students.
Jenny moved out of London and now lives within a stone’s throw of Joy Foubister, with whom she now trains.
(See the article 'Waveform Energetics ®  ‘Beginnings’)
Jenny recently joked (we think it was a joke) that we should have an advert, which says, ‘Waveform changes your life and also your post code’

 u The Energetics of Reiki
Copyright © Mike Webster September 2003
(Published in ‘Resonances’ Magazine)

This article describes Waveform and work with two great Reiki Masters, Molly McCoombs and Claire Winchester.

 u Living the Field
(Tom Litten) September 2003

Tom and I attended ‘The Field’ conference in London in 2003, and this is Tom’s view of how it shaped up. I have included it here as it contains an appraisal at the seminar of a demonstration of a very expensive Frequency machine, and how we felt it compared to using Waveform.

u Waveform changed Mozart
N. 9th December 2004

Our workshops are for everyone, not just therapists; and the writer of this article is a businessman. When N described his experience to me after Waveform 1, I could barely conserve my joy for what I recognised as a classic Buddhist experience. I asked him to write down the experience he had, which is still with him and is an integral part of his life a year after the event.

Exciting stuff – enjoy reading it.

u The Response Model (Waveform’s Donkey)
Copyright
ã Joe McHugh M.Sc. March 2004. (Published on our member’s forum in April 2004.)

Joe leads the scientific side of our team from Zurich in Switzerland, and is excellent at describing the science of Waveform, and energy in a non-scientific way.
Despite its strange title, (which in a way conveys Joe’s sense of humour) this is an excellent article for people wishing to have some understanding of Waveform from a scientific point of view.
Joe’s article contains no ‘flannel’ to baffle the non-scientist, or scientific words/terms/phrases without simple explanation; this suits me, and many of my colleagues very well.
This is an article written by a scientist who knows his science, and has a lot of personal experience and insight into how energy works.
Enjoy the article.

The first draft of this article by Joe was received in Feb of 2004 and was published on our member’s forum in April 2004.
As a Waveform Teacher and member of our team, Joe is available to answer questions from members of the Association

u Waveform Energetics® and Reflexology
Copyright © Mike Webster
(Printed in ‘Healing Points’ magazine.)
This article is really a confession, and an apology to reflexology.
You’ll have to read it to find out why.

u Waveform and Aromatherapy
(Jeni Macpherson. Aromatherapist.  Malawi. March 2005)
Here is an article for those that think that Waveform is just for Shiatsu.
Jeni is one of our Malawi graduates, trained in Aromatherapy who found that Waveform added another, and very important dimension to her work. Here is another example of the flexibility, and all encompassing aspects of waveform.

u A Path to Enlightenment or The Joy of Life and Living.
Copyright © Mike Webster 2006 Previously published in ‘Healing points’ Magazine and ‘Body and Soul’.
This article was written in 2006 mainly because I am constantly being asked, (and by many people who should know better) to tell them what the 'trick' is with Waveform and our energy work.
Sometimes they just ask me to tell them how it is done, as:
a) They are too busy to do the course,
b) If I have the answer why don't I just tell them how to be in the moment/have a change in their perception of life/ to experience Kensho/to make that connection with nature. They cannot understand that if I was to tell them, it would be my experience I am telling them about - it would not be theirs. Hopefully this article will help.
